A £3.5M scheme in Bournemouth which is the first to provide dedicated specialist housing for people with dementia has seen Klober’s Wallint 50 Air Barrier and Solar-Line airtightness accessories used throughout.

Phil Goffin of architects Brown Smith Baker explained, “We wanted an air barrier/VCL to meet the British Standard minimum vapour resistance of 250 MN/sg and Wallint 50 met this requirement perfectly”.

It was installed on the warm side of rafters behind plaster stops in conjunction with Klober’s Pasto Sealant and Permo TR Tape. Pipe work penetrations through the roof were sealed using the Solar-Line Sealing Collar.

Venue Sounds Good with Cembrit

CH Building Board from Cembrit has been used extensively throughout a state-of-the-art wedding venue in North London. Manufactured by Sound Reduction Systems Ltd of Bolton, Lancashire, the CH Board has been used as part of a bespoke acoustic composite panel at the venue.

Owned by Metro Wedding and Function Halls, the Little Princes and Little Princesses Wedding Venue is capable of accommodating over 800 people. Located close to a residential area planning could only be agreed with the right acoustic specification. Richard Groborz of SRS Ltd’s stockist and approved agent for the area, Trim Acoustics, visited site to advise on the acoustic insulation. He commented:

“In order eliminate the risk of disruption to the neighbours, and to offer a practical and cost effective solution to the client, we specified an acoustic panel featuring CH Building Board for the walls and ceilings. The results have been fantastic leaving the venue owners, local council and neighbours delighted.”

In total, over 2000m² of CH Building Board was installed by Gama Construction to meet the stringent requirements of the council. Due to the pressing nature of the project, Trim Acoustics and Sound Reduction Systems were able to design the specification and supply the product within a very short timeframe.

Cembrit 3.2 mm CH Building Board is strong, durable and able to withstand extreme climatic and working conditions; it can also be used as a base board for coatings or laminates. With a density of 1700 kg/m3 it has been specially developed for use in demanding applications. The board is produced from a combination of cement, cellulose and mineral fillers. Its hard, cement-grey surface is super smooth for easy pressure wash-down. Flexible to work with, it is extremely moisture-resistant and requires no painting.

News Release
New technical Co-Ordinator for Kemper System

Liquid roofing specialist, Kemper System, has appointed Steve Henderson to the role of Technical Co-ordinator to maintain the company’s high levels of technical support as its customer base and product range continue to grow.

The move follows the promotion of Mark Bruchez to the new post of Technical Director earlier this year and increases the technical team at Kemper System, which is well-recognised for offering excellent support throughout the specification and installation process. Steve’s remit includes providing technical support to both Kemper’s field-based sales teams and its customers, offering site specific advice on complex roof detailing and troubleshooting on specialist requirements such as heritage buildings and compatibility with other products.

Steve joins Kemper System with 23 years’ experience in the roofing sector and was previously flat roofing manager for a roofing contractor.  He also has wide-ranging previous experience as a specialist lead work contractor, particularly on heritage buildings, and his specialism is in understanding the technical requirements of complex or awkward detailing and designing best fit solutions to maximise roof integrity.

Explains Steve: “I have used Kemper System products as a contractor so I am very familiar with installation best practice, product features and system capabilities. This role gives me the opportunity to share that knowledge and my experience on site to help our customers make the right specification decisions and maximise the system’s effectiveness as an industry-leading, innovative wet-on-wet, cold liquid-applied membrane.”
