SIG WINS PRESTIGIOUS BMF SUSTAINABILITY AWARD 2026
SIG has been named winner of the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) Sustainability Award 2026, recognising the company’s commitment to driving positive environmental change across both its own operations and the wider construction supply chain.
The award was presented at the BMF Members’ Annual Conference & Awards on 17 September 2026 at The Belfry, where SIG Managing Director Howard Luft accepted the award on behalf of the business.
The Department for Business & Trade selected the winner from a shortlist of BMF members participating in ConstructZero, the industry’s change programme focused on reducing carbon emissions and delivering a more sustainable built environment.
SIG was recognised for its clear and transparent approach to sustainability, including its work to decarbonise operations, support the adoption of sustainable and lower carbon construction products, publicly report on sustainability performance, and maintain a long-term commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, supported by an interim target of a 50% reduction by 2035.
“To be recognised by the Department for Business & Trade with the BMF Sustainability Award is a tremendous achievement for everyone across SIG”, said Howard Luft.
“Sustainability is not a standalone initiative for us. It influences how we operate our business, support our customers and work with our supply chain partners. From reducing emissions across our operations to helping customers access products and solutions that improve the performance of buildings, we are committed to making a positive contribution to the construction industry’s transition towards a lower carbon future.
“This award is recognition of the progress we have made, but it also reinforces our determination to continue improving and delivering meaningful change.”
Sustainability remains a key strategic priority for SIG. Through the products it distributes, the company helps improve the energy efficiency of buildings while supporting customers with technical expertise, project support and access to lower carbon solutions. Alongside this, SIG continues to focus on reducing its own environmental impact through initiatives aimed at lowering greenhouse gas emissions and improving operational efficiency.
The company’s sustainability strategy is built around five focus areas, including decarbonising operations, supporting sustainable and lower carbon products, responsible sourcing, health and safety, and being an employer of choice.
