Cut edge corrosion is a common problem affecting profiled metal roofs and, if left untreated, can lead to water ingress, deterioration of the roof sheets and potentially costly remedial work.

Rather than replacing otherwise serviceable roof sheets, liquid-applied refurbishment can provide a highly effective way of treating vulnerable areas, restoring waterproofing performance and extending the service life of an existing roof.

StrataShield CladFlex from Strata Waterproofing is a high performance liquid-applied system developed specifically for the protection and refurbishment of industrial pitched roofs and cladding. Incorporating polyurethane technology, it provides long term protection against corrosion, weathering and water ingress.

The system can be used to treat cut edge corrosion, side and end laps and other vulnerable areas, as well as providing protection across the wider roof area. CladFlex solutions are also available for gutter linings and asbestos fibre-cement roofs.

Correct preparation is fundamental to system performance. Depending on the condition of the existing roof, specialist primers and bonding agents are used to prepare the substrate and treat areas of corrosion. Vulnerable joints and laps can then be reinforced before the liquid polyurethane waterproofing system is applied. A UV-resistant sealer coat can also be incorporated, with colour-matched finishing options available where required.

CladFlex provides C5 certified corrosion protection and, because the system is liquid-applied, existing joints and overlaps can be protected and sealed without unnecessarily disturbing otherwise serviceable roof sheets or fixings. Systems are available with materials warranties of up to 15 years.
